DESCRIPTION: EPW - "G.A.C., Equator, Swiss Made" marked dial, minute repeater with chronograph, 53mm, 18K gold original HC with beautiful leaf engraving detail, gold cuvette, originally with a glazed observation cover over mvt which is no longer present, white enamel SS dial, SW-shift-locking-LS, lever escapement with capped escape wheel, at least 20J, gilt mvt, s#2269 within case. Gross weight of assembled watch 74.9 dwt (116.5 g).
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, good repeat function and tone when tested at most hand positions but with frequent errors of function encountered when minute hand is nearing the quarter-hour positions, when hands are set the minute hand has a tendency to skip instantly ahead several minutes when passing the quarter-hour positions, when repeat functions are attempted near the quarter-hour positions there are occasional omissions of multiple hour strikes, additions of a single quarter-hour strike, and omissions of several minute strikes, if minute hand is set to approximately 57 or 58 minutes past the hour the minute hand will cease to advance despite the watch continuing to run, good chronograph function, overhaul needed for normalized repeat and running function around quarter-hour positions, fine cosmetic mvt condition overall, some dings to fourth wheel bridge, escape wheel bridge with some abrasion and finish loss, steelwork with areas of oxide and with areas showing fine scratch striations from oxide removal via sanding; dial with short scratch right of center, short scratch within lower portion of seconds-register, faint vertical hl through seconds-register, small bit of glue seepage evident at seating of seconds-register indicating it has likely been re-secured; fine hands with some areas of oxide, mild bends to sweep-seconds-hand; case shows very light wear, numerous scattered dents and dings to band, some dings to front, rear and cuvette with the most visually prominent being a protruding ding to cuvette at perimeter toward hinge position, engraving detail with mild reduction, front lift spring needing assistance to open lid, case originally included a glazed observation cover over mvt which is no longer present; tight bow flattened and thinned somewhat at top, crown shows light wear; good glass crystal.
